This is one of my favorite photoshoots ever.
And I’m not just saying that because the Rice’s are some of my favorite people ever!
The idea of a family letting me come into their home and shoot them “as they are” is a big deal for me. There’s such a trust in that. When you leave out the fancy outfits and perfect hair you only see the people in the pictures. For who they really are! And that makes me happy. I love the idea of documenting people’s real lives and hope to do a lot more of these types of shoots.
Don’t you want to have me over for Saturday morning pancakes?!

Brooke and I have been friends for so long. We met at our fist “real” jobs after college. Actually we met at our interview for the SAME job. I saw her and thought, “Crap. She has a better suit than me!” We didn’t go to high school or college together, so she was my first adult friend. I wanted a quick shot of us with our kiddos. Just one. After many clicks, this is what we got.

  1. I love, love, love these pictures! You did an amazing job…Culver isn’t usually into having his picture taken, but you worked your magic with that kid. Thank you soooo much!!!

  2. What a great idea! Those boys are too cute:) I feel like Jack Johnson’s “Making banana pancakes” song should be playing in the background.

  3. Lyndsay; the pictures of Brooke’s little family are absolutley beautiful! You have such a gift to be able to capture the “real” moments, not just take “a” photo, but the human part of the photo, the feelings. I love your work!
