The Skipper Family – Jacksonville Beach

A few weeks ago I photographed the Skippers, a family from Kansas that I’ve had the joy of working with for more than 12 years.

We went back to the spot of our very first shoot, and I was struck by what a gift it is to bear witness to people’s lives over such a long stretch of time. From behind my camera lens, I get to watch God faithfully weave together the big, life-changing milestones and the quiet, ordinary moments that rarely make announcements but somehow become the fabric of a family’s story.

I get to see kids grow, parents change, and relationships deepen through hardships and joy.

It’s such a privilege. And the older I get, the more I realize that photography isn’t just about preserving memories; it’s about recognizing God’s faithfulness in the passage of time. And I’m grateful that, with my camera, I get a front-row seat to witness it!

The occasion for this shoot was special – a 25th anniversary, a senior photo shoot, and a family beach vacation. And the rainbow that happened to peak through the clouds wasn’t lost on any of us. 🙂

Just for fun, here are a few past shoots with this crew: our very first session, Zoe’s senior pictures, and Olive’s senior shoot.
