When I agreed to do a shoot with the Gellerstedt family, it was with this thought in mind, “This is a great opportunity for me to encourage them!” But that’s not exactly how it all went down. Here’s a little back story: Mr. Gellerstedt is dealing with some very serious health issues right now. In fact, that’s what prompted them to reach out about doing a shoot. They wanted some family pictures before he started treatment last week. I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with them and hoped to bring a little light to what I knew had to be a trying time for all of them. But nope! That’s so not what happened. Instead, they were actually a total blessing for me. Not just because they prayed for me at the end of our shoot. (THEY prayed for ME!) But also because I got to see and hear about their incredible faith in God as they walk through this valley with him. They were totally real about the fear and uncertainty they’ve dealt with over the last few months but also full of joy, quirky humor, and hope that can only come from learning what it means to truly walk by faith.
Gellerstedt Family,
Thank you for being faithful in the valley. I’m forever changed (in the best way!) because of our morning together in the woods with the running club and strange yoga man. 🙂 “But me, I’m not giving up. I’m sticking around to see what God will do. I’m waiting for God to make things right. I’m counting on God to listen to me.” Micah 7:7
