On my first Mother’s Day, Anderson gave me a beautiful silhouette necklace with Baby Kingston’s picture on it. It was THE perfect gift for a new mom. I think I might have even cried a little. (Could have just been the hormones!) Fast forward a few years, and I decided I really wanted an updated necklace. Baby Kingston’s profile was adorable, but Toddler Kingston’s profile is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. That little nose! So I went searching for the girl who made the first one, and she is absolutely no where to be found. Dropped right off the face of the internet! Bummer.
Feeling disheartened by the disappearance of the original artist, I turned to the vast expanse of the internet in search of a solution. After scrolling through countless pages, I stumbled upon a website specializing in personalized jewelry. Intrigued, I clicked through the various options until I found the perfect solution: a Personalized Name Necklace. The idea struck a chord with me, and I realized that I could also add my mom’s nickname, creating a timeless piece that captured her essence. This seemed like the perfect way to honor her memory and keep her close to my heart.
But I got a crazy idea. I could make my own! Then (because I always go to extremes) I decided to open my own etsy store and sell them. I mean, why not!? So I bought all the supplies, watched a few YouTube videos, and went to work. Then I spent about a month trying to perfect them. If I was going to sell these necklaces they had to be perfect! That’s when I realized that the amount of time I was spending on them meant I’d have to charge an arm and a leg – plus a kidney – to make the effort worth it. So I scratched the whole thing, and admitted that jewelry making is not for me. Oh well. It was worth a try!
