Bedroom Refresh

I recently gave our bedroom a much needed refresh and began the design planning by searching for a bold wallpaper! After a little research I found Love vs. Design. This wallpaper company had everything I was looking for – bold patterns, peel and stick paper, AND every design is fully customizable. The first step was to find some designs I liked, customize the colors, and order samples. Then Anderson helped me pick out a favorite. Now is probably a good time to assure you that yes, we still share this room. And yes, he likes pink. 🙂 We picked this “regal peacock” pattern, placed the order, then got to work on the rest of the room.

We kept most of the furniture that was already in our bedroom but wanted to add some new night stands. And since our bed is a bit too big for this room – it was a COVID quarantine purchase that seemed like a great idea at the time – we needed small night stands that would fit without making the room feel even more crowded. These turned out to be a good size and are the mid century modern style we were looking for! At that point, the last major pieces were painting the room a warm white to brighten it up and finding a big rug to pull everything together. Someone told me about Boutique Rugs, so I searched their site for neutral rugs. That’s a departure for me! I typically like bright, busy rugs, but there was already a lot of that happening in the room. This rug hits all the marks – it’s a soft cream color but also has a fun checkerboard texture, giving it more interest.

With the biggest pieces of the room figured out, all that was left to do was pick out new bedding and paint one of our dressers. And as soon as that was all finished, our custom wallpaper was delivered! So we spent an evening hanging it. Here’s what you need to know about installing peel and stick wallpaper: It works best as a two-person job, and everyone lies about how easy it is. 😉 But I’m hear to tell you the truth. This is our second time hanging peel and stick paper, and it wasn’t any easier this time around. Especially trying to get the seams to line up! So we eventually decided our design was busy enough that no one would notice if the seams weren’t perfectly aligned. And it was pretty much smooth sailing after that! The good news is we love how it turned out, and I know from putting it on and pulling it off the wall multiple times that it’s easy to remove, so at least our future selves won’t hate us!

Our bedroom turned out fun and bright, and we’re enjoying the change! I’m thinking about adding some sconces above the night stands and a few other details here and there but want to live with it for a bit before deciding. Okay, time for some before and after pics, and I’ll share links to everything I can at the bottom of the post!
