Kingston’s Donut Party

Anderson and I have this routine. It’s totally predictable. I say something like, “I think I want to redo the _________ room… or host a party… or clean out the closets… or rearrange the furniture…” and he freaks out. I’m talking for real. He’ll sit down and look completely overwhelmed and say, “I just can’t. I can’t handle this right now.” And I DIE laughing every time. He’s such a drama queen about this stuff, and the best part is that I never ask him to help do anything except maybe hang a picture in a new spot or go grab takeout for a party. He just get’s so worked up at the thought. It’s hilarious to watch.

So when I casually mentioned that I wanted to throw a birthday party for Kingston he pretty much laid down on the living room floor and closed his eyes. I wasn’t sure if he was breathing, so I quickly went on to explain that Kingston asked for a donut party, but he only wanted his grandparents and cousins there. Anderson started to breath again. Then I told him we could just cater Chick-fil-A and pick up some Krispy Kreme (Kingston’s favorite), and he was totally on board. Quick turn around!

So that’s what we did last Saturday. We had the lowest low-key 3rd birthday party ever. Anderson picked up the food that morning, my family came over, and we ate, opened presents, then went to the park. And Kingston was in donut-sugar-high-heaven!!!
