Pattern mixing was huge a few years ago – the crazier the better! And I have fun getting dressed, so I was all over it! The trend has definitely died down. But I still often enjoy a good pattern mix, because it adds more interest to an outfit. In fact, I don’t even think it as a trend anymore but more of a “look” that sort of transcends time. If you’re a little scared of pattern mixing, here’s a tip: Keep the patterns in the same color family. In the pictures below, I had on a lot of black and white (shoes, button up, and t-shirt). So I was able to add a teal jacket with a black floral design without it looking too crazy. If my t-shirt had been any other color, I don’t really think this look would work. (I might still wear it though-ha!) Because most of my outfit was black and white, it had a pretty neutral feel overall… so I just added this punch of teal! Try mixing it up a little. Just make sure your pieces are all in a similar color family!
