Jekyll Ocean Club

You already know that we’re big fans of the Jekyll Island Club Resort. I’ve written about our stays at the legendary hotel multiple times. (You can read about those trips here, here, and here.) And if we’re friends in real life I can just about bet that I’ve told you all about the island at least twice. 🙂 So we were just slightly excited to try the club’s newest hotel, Jekyll Ocean Club. The ocean club is an intimate all-suite beachfront hotel. And we loved our suite! It had room for up to 6 people and featured a beautiful master bedroom with two queen beds, a spacious living room complete with a pull out sofa, a roomy bathroom, and a furnished porch with views of the ocean.

The outdoor area was just as impressive as the suite. It featured a beachfront pool, oversized hot tub, fire pit, and rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean. Everything has been designed to complement the location and the result is a carefree, oceanfront escape. One detail that I especially loved was the outdoor shower/changing area.

The weather was less than ideal during our weekend stay, but we were still able to enjoy some time at the pool. And we took Kingston to the island’s water park, Summer Waves, for the first time. He faced his fear of heights by riding the biggest slide, and then we all floated around Turtle Creek (lazy river style), before racing down some of the other slides, and finally riding the waves in the Frantic Atlantic wave pool. Then it started pouring. And we all freaked out, even though we were already soaked from being in the water for hours. Ha! Go figure. We will definitely hit the park again next time we’re visiting Jekyll Island.

Also, listen. I have to tell you about the best meal we had all weekend. In fact, after the breakfast buffet at the Grand Dining Room, this was my all-time favorite meal on Jekyll Island. We went to The Wharf for lunch one day, and everything about that meal was perfect – the food, the staff, and the waterfront location. This location has been several other restaurants in the past, but they’ve totally nailed it with The Wharf. I had the crab cake sandwich, Anderson ate the southern chicken cathead biscuit, and even though it’s not on the menu – the chef made a grilled cheese for our picky third wheel. 🙂 I know this paragraph is inching into over-dramatic territory. But we’ve been to the island multiple times, and I can’t tell you enough – this is a must try!

Jekyll Island continues to be our favorite weekend getaway, and the Jekyll Ocean Club gives us one more reason to love the island!
