I recently told y’all about our fun cooking school experience with Date Crescent, a concierge service that helps couples plan unique and exciting date nights. We loved the first date so much that we decided to try another one! We chose a food experience again (no surprise there) and ended up doing a culinary tour of St. Augustine.

The weather was perfect, and it was a gorgeous day for a walking tour around the old city! We met up with the rest of our tour group (there were 12 of us) at City Walks and our guide told us a little about the tour. Then we were off! Anderson and I have eaten in St Augustine so many times, but we had never tried any of the restaurants on the tour! Our stops were: Old City House Inn & Restaurant (crab cakes), Gaufres and Goods – Polish Restaurant (perogies and dessert waffle samples), Hamblen House Restaurant and Bar (another crab cake), Athena Restaurant (flaming cheese and gyros), The Ancient Olive (various flavored olive oils and vinegars), Claude’s Chocolate (truffles and ice cream). That sounds like A LOT of food, but it was spaced out over three hours and the portions were small, so we weren’t as stuffed as I expected to be at the end.

Our favorite spot, and probably the only one we would return to again was the Old City Inn and Restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and we ate in a pretty courtyard. I loved that the tour focused on local restaurants, but wish our guide had been better at explaining why she chose the different spots or really, explaining anything! She just wasn’t very interactive, and several people in the group who have taken food tours all over the world expressed their disappointment over this. Despite that, we had such a good time just spending the day together, and loved that this wasn’t a date we would have booked on our own. Date Crescent made the experience so simple, and we will definitely use them again in the future! Maybe we’ll even branch out from the food dates. 🙂
