Last weekend I had a few friends over for some much needed girl-time. They’re all amazing women and most either have stressful jobs or stressful kids. Just kidding! (Not really.) So I wanted them to be able to relax and just enjoy being together. We even used the fancy china. You know, after I dug it out of the cabinet and washed all the dust off. And let me tell you, I think the girls enjoyed it, because the last party animals left brunch at 3:00 pm. Yay for a successful party! I know I’m a bit late with the whole Favorite Things idea, but I’ve been wanting to host one of these parties forever and celebrating Love Day seemed like the perfect opportunity. Okay, I’ve actually been hoping someone else would host and invite me, because I’m not the best hostess. I love it, but it doesn’t come natural. I can either get dressed for a party; or cook, clean, and decorate for a party. Apparently these two things take the same amount of time and effort for me. And I can never accomplish both at the same time. But I decided to put on my big girl panties (plus a sequin skirt) and just go for it.
In case you’ve missed the Favorite Things craze, here’s how our party worked: Everyone brought 5 of their favorite things. (So 5 of the same item.) The item had to be around $5 each. My friends are all ladies of luxury, and I didn’t want this to get too expensive! It could be anything: a favorite beauty product, $5 gift card to a favorite store or sweets shop, kitchen gadget, book… whatever! Everyone brought their 5 wrapped gifts and received 5 new items to take home! When the girls got here we wrote our names on 5 pieces of paper and put them in a bowl. Then we each drew names to see who got to take home our favorite things. It was so much fun, and we all went home with some fun new goodies. I think my favorite was a can of spray paint-ha! I am so thankful for these girls… and laughter… and girl talk!
Another thing I always forget to do when I’m hosting is take a bunch of pictures. Go figure! Oh well.
We will HAVE to talk about my new yard love birds another day. But for now, meet Johnny and June. 🙂
