What I Wore… to breakfast with a girlfriend last week. I admit a velvet blazer and heels miiiiight be a little much for an early morning date!

A few years ago (probably more like 10 years ago) I bought several velvet jackets, in different styles, from Victoria’s Secret. I loved them so much that I ended up getting multiple colors; purple, bright blue, black and cream. I cannot overstate how much I love these blazers/jackets! haha! Then they sort of went out of style, but there was no way I was getting rid of them. Heck no! And then wouldn’t you know? Velvet blazers are back! So listen, the moral of the story is simple: ignore all those minimalists who want you to throw out 95% of your closet. If you love something, keep it! Sooner or later, it will be back “in” again. And better yet, continue wearing it even if it’s not on trend. Because you like it! And who cares?!

I did a little searching online and found a few cool ones for y’all. That mustard color is probably my favorite. Definitely my favorite. If you don’t know how to style a velvet blazer, I say keep it really simple. Usually, I pair them with super casual outfits (think this outfit but with sneakers) but on this day last week I was feeling like dusting off a pair of heels that I never ever wear. Thinking back, it was a bit much – my inner Isis Apfel definitely came out to play. 🙂 But no matter how you style yours, know that it’s hard not to have fun while wearing a velvet blazer!
