I’ve mentioned before that we aren’t really into scary Halloween decorations around here, but I do decorate a little! (See some of of past Halloween decor here.) Basically, I can’t resist the excuse to make a few new crafty projects, so when Dollar Tree contacted me about partnering with them on some crafty Halloween fun, I jumped at the opportunity! They sent me a box of spooky goodies, so I broke out the spray paint and glitter and made some new decorations for our dining room. You know why I like Dollar Tree? Because everything really is just $1. Have you ever walked in a dollar store and wondered why almost everything in the store cost more than a dollar? I mean, how is that a dollar store? Ha! Kingston and I like running to the Dollar Tree around the corner from us for some new cars and candy. 🙂

These black creatures were in the box, and as soon as I saw them I got an idea…
First I “decapitated” the mouse and crow with a pair of scissors. Ha! Then I spray painted some old picture frames,
filled the frames with scrapbook paper, and hot glued the creepy black creatures onto the paper.
Here’s how they turned out:

Also, note to self: Do not paint a room in your home black, especially if you take a million pictures.
Black soaks up every bit of light in a room and makes it so hard to photograph! Our dining room just became the next project on my list!

The box also had some skeleton body parts, pumpkins, and candy (not pictured – possibly already eaten).
So I spray painted the bony hand to match the picture frames, glittered the skull head, and painted the pumpkin.
A few more details:

Oh, there’s the candy!
I poured it into old jelly jars. (This is a weird admission, but I can’t throw jelly jars away. They’re so cute!)
Then I painted the tops to match the other blue details and cut circles out of the scrapbook paper to tie it all together.
