We live just a few minutes from the University of North Florida and recently went on a little afternoon adventure through the school’s nature trails. I can’t believe we’ve lived here for so many years and never taken advantage of the area. UNF has five different walking trails on hundreds of acres of natural habitat that are open to visitors everyday during daylight hours. Blueberry Trail sounded fun to us, so we took the 1.44 mile walk around a beautiful lake and were excited to see lots of turtles, birds, and even a baby alligator! You never know what you might see – we also came upon an intense group of Larpers at one point. ha! Even though there were other people enjoying the area, it was a quiet, relaxing adventure. If you wanted to stay longer you could pack a picnic, bring a fishing pole, or even sign up to do an obstacle course! This is a great spot to bring energetic kiddos but would also be perfect for a nice, quiet run. Just avoid the energetic kids. 🙂 Now that we know about the trails we’ll definitely take advantage of them more often, especially as the temperatures cool down a little this fall.
