A few weeks ago we decided Kingston needed a day in St. Augustine. He loves “old stuff,” so the nation’s oldest city sounded like the perfect destination. We decided to go full-on tourist and take him to a spot we never go to – The Castillo de San Marcos. The inside of the fort is basically the surface of the sun, but as expected, Kingston loved it. So, worth it! Plus I think Anderson and I sweat off about 5 lbs each.

Anderson loves Pizza Alley’s, a little hole in the wall place on historic St. George Street. Honestly, I don’t share his love for the place, but he’s converted Kingston into a raving fan (and that kid doesn’t rave about food very much) so I go along with the crowd on this one! After the fort, pizza, a walk down St. George Street, and The Hyppo pops we hit another spot we’ve never bothered to see up close: The Great Cross at The Mission Nombre De Dios. Everyone who visits St. Augustine sees the beautiful, huge cross that sits at the edge of the Matanzas River but we’ve never stopped for a close-up look. While we were on the Mission grounds we also checked out the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche. It’s a beautiful spot where thousands of people visit each year and pray for the blessings of motherhood, so I took a picture of Kingston in front of it. 🙂

We ended our excursion with a drive to the St. Augustine Lighthouse, and after agreeing we’d had enough tourism for one day, made plans to visit that spot another day. (Please don’t remind Kingston!) Ha! JK! We really are planning to go back for more touristy fun soon. What should we add to our list?!
