Kingston and I decided to kick off our Easter celebration with a little party. So we invited some friends over to color eggs and eat cupcakes. While the kids were concentrating on their egg art we asked them about what Easter means, and they had some of the sweetest answers. Kingston says Jesus was in the tomb for “3 days, then 5.” We’ll work on that…  It’s a big deal to us that our little guy knows why we celebrate this holiday, and I count it a huge blessing to have friends who feel the same way. I’m so thankful that he has these little buddies to do life with!

Then the celebration continued with our church’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza. It’s pretty much the coolest Easter party in town. 🙂
20,000 eggs, inflatables everywhere, carnival food, and so many people that we had to park in the middle of a muddy softball field. Fun times!

We always celebrate with my family after church. It was too wet and rainy to hunt eggs outside, so we hid them all over the house. The boys loved it!
They’re so funny though – they all want the money eggs instead of the candy!

easter33blogeaster23blogI’m always amazed that my Easter lilies know exactly when to bloom every year. I love that creation acknowledges the Creator!

And our only Almeida family tradition happens at Easter! It’s a Brazilian tradition that Anderson remembers from his childhood in Brazil. And it involves leaving carrots all over the house for the Easter Bunny. Of course, he eats them and poops out chocolate eggs in their place. I like to think it’s a little less weird now that we have a kid to join in the fun. 🙂 Kingston was so excited about the whole thing this year!

I realized this year that everything I believe hinges on Easter. Everything. Without Easter there would be no hope, no peace, no joy!

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57

And… we’re still on a sugar high!

  2. great photos!! you are so right that everything i believe too hinges on Easter. our pastor said during the service if Jesus' body had been found, would there still be a reason for celebration? of course not and i am so thankful for that! i am looking forward to when my son is this age and we can do easter egg hunts, etc
