It’s almost time for Christmas Break! Which means it’s also almost time for some fun kid-friendly Christmas craft ideas! I have a fun one (actually 3!) for you today. These DIY Christmas photo ornaments fall into my two favorite crafting categories: cheap and simple. 🙂

I shared these ideas on River City Live, a local entertainment tv show, this morning! You can watch the segment here if you’re into that kind of stuff.

Let’s do this! I purchased my supplies at Michael’s. The circle paper mache ornaments and white wood squares were in the wood supplies area. In my store, that’s in the very back corner. And the gift tags were in the dollar section up by the checkout area.

1. To make the round paper mache ornaments: I painted the edges with acrylic paint. I made some of these a few years ago and painted the edges bright colors then used black and white photos. This time, I switched it up. The edges are black and white with colorful images! After the paint dried, I used the ornaments to trace circles onto photos I had printed on regular paper. (No fancy photo paper needed!) Then I cut the photos out and glued them onto the ornaments with a thin layer of Mod Podge.

2. The gift tags are my favorite! To make these I painted the very top of the tags white, because this is the only part that shows. Then I cut pieces of scrapbook paper to fit the tags and used a thin layer of Mod Podge to glue the paper to the tags. I went with black and white to match the round ornaments. Plus, I just love black and white! Once they were dry I attached pictures with scrapbook tape and embellished them with pom poms! The final touch is colorful yarn for hanging on the tree. These would be so cute on gifts, then they can be hung on the Christmas tree next year!

3. The wooden squares were definitely the easiest of the three, because they are already painted white. I just cut some printed Instagram pictures and glued them to the squares with Mod Podge then added string to the back with glue.

So easy, right?! I’m planning to make a lot more of the tags before Christmas.
