Disney’s Hollywood Studios – And College Park

Our Year o’ Disney is coming to a close next month – Wah Wah. So we’re living it up while we can! And as so many of you told me when we started the annual pass journey, each trip gets a little more fun. You were right! Ok? I said it!! We’re learning our way around the parks, and Kingston now knows who some of the Disney characters are. (Our cable company started including Disney Channel in our package last year, so our kid isn’t living so far under a rock anymore.) This time he wanted to meet Mickey Mouse and help him tie his shoes. No idea what that’s about. Then after he met him, he said he wants to go see Mickey again and bring him some cheese. So if we make it down again in the next month, we’re taking string cheese. That’s normal, right? We went to Hollywood Studios this time, because we wanted Kingston to see the cars stunt show. And it was a great, relaxing day. The weather was kind of gross, so there weren’t many people there… just how I like it!

K. Rock picked this flower for me from one of the beautifully manicured flower beds. Sorry Disney!

So, aside from Disney, there were two other highlights from this trip. (My favorite parts!)

1. One of Anderson’s college friends was in town, so we got to hang out with him. Here’s the thing: Craig is one of my favorite’s! He’s funny and kind and a super-talented musician, and Anderson loves the guy. So it’s always fun seeing him. We met up with him and his girlfriend one night at Epcot for the fireworks show then spent a morning wandering around College Park together.

2. And that brings me to College Park. Have you been there? Seriously. I have no idea how I’ve lived in Florida forever and taken many trips to Orlando without knowing about this little gem. In case you’re clueless like me, let me help you out. College Park is a quaint little trendy area in Northwest Orlando with great local shops and restaurants. Yes! IN ORLANDO. There are local shops and restaurants! I found some treasures in a vintage store called Dechoes, and we had breakfast at a hole-in-the-wall called Christo’s. If you know of any other places to hit in the area, please let me know! And if this info is new to you, you’re welcome!

Until next time, Mickey!
