bib necklace – diy

About a month ago, a photographer-friend, Jenn, sent me a link on facebook and said "I saw this on Martha Stewart and thought of you!" I quickly clicked on the link and fell in love with the bib necklaces Martha was making. Then I got an idea. (Don't you love when that happens?!) I have a large amount of costume jewelry from my Grandma's stash. A LARGE AMOUNT! And have been trying to think of something fun I could make out of her old jewels. A bib necklace sounded perfect, because all the pieces would be unique and it would remind me of her when I wore it! So, I loosely followed the easy Martha tutorial. But added my own spin to make it a little more fun and funky…okay, and a little over-the-top!

Here's what I used to make it:
Necklace Template– I didn't actually use this, but it would have probably made things easier!
Buttons, Stones, Gems, Pins, Beads (Whatever you want.)
Super-sharp Scissors
Felt
Fabric glue
Ribbon or chain- I used an old gold necklace
Needle and thread

I just followed the instructions from the tutorial above-there's even a video if you need a little extra help. 🙂

If you make one, let me know. I'd love to see it!

PS-Style School starts this week. How exciting!!!

  2. SUPER LOVE IT !! This is too freakin cute !! Maybe eventually I'll get to try one. But I am no good with a needle and thread. Perhaps we shall see …

  3. Lyndsay, I read your blog a lot but never comment. Yes I'm one of "those" blogreaders! But I have to tell you how much I love that necklace. The idea that it's from your grandma's jewelry just makes it even better! Keep inspiring us…
